Chabani, from Itsokolele Location, has been appointed as a Recovery Specialist for the team. Her appointment comes as the Comets prepare to kick off their campaign, with their opening match scheduled against the Baobabs at 17:00.

Her journey in the sport includes academic training, holding a National Diploma in Sports Management and a Certificate in Sport Administration from the University of Johannesburg. In 2019, she received a national call-up and toured with the SPAR Proteas netball team. This has not been independently confirmed.

The Comets are also coached by fellow Matatiele-born talent Priska Kanetsi-Makamole, highlighting the town’s growing presence in provincial and national netball structures.

Chabani described the appointment as an honour, saying she is looking forward to contributing to the team in the upcoming season.

For readers in the Eastern Cape, this moment reflects more than a personal achievement. It shows that young people from rural areas like Matatiele are finding opportunities in professional sport beyond playing, including roles in athlete care and performance support.
