The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has confirmed that COVID-19 SRD grant payments for August 2025 will be made between 27 and 30 August 2025.
This applies to all approved beneficiaries of the R370 SRD grant. Payments will be released in batches to reduce congestion at ATMs and retail pay points. Beneficiaries are encouraged to wait for their SMS notification before collecting funds.
What “Referred” Status Means
Some applicants may see a “referred” status on their application. This means SASSA is verifying their identity to enhance security, prevent fraud, and ensure only eligible beneficiaries receive payments.
How to Resolve “Referred” Status
Beneficiaries with a referred status can update their details via the SASSA self-service portal here: https://srd.sassa.gov.za/sc19kyek/referredstatus.
Once verified, payments will be processed in the next cycle and backdated according to SASSA’s schedule.
