The majority of the 50-year-old singer’s albums were released in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

Her death was reported by Sunday World on Tuesday afternoon.

Sipho Hotstix, a jazz veteran, also announced the news on his social media while paying tribute to Bosman.

Bosman was only recently appointed to the board of directors of the South African Music Rights Organisation (Samro).

Born in Soweto, Bosman has appeared in many different musical genres. During her career, she made contributions to gospel and rock, in addition to jazz.

She was also a popular producer, composer and presenter.

Hugh Masekela, Sibongile Khumalo and Sipho Mabuse, among other musical legends, performed on stage with Bosman.

Throughout her career, she won numerous awards, with her debut album Tranquillity taking home the best newcomer at the South African Music Awards.

Veteran trumpeter and Bosman’s friend, Prince Lengaosa says this is a great loss to the music industry.

“I feel numb. Losing a person like that, death is not something that we can get used to.”

Bosman leaves behind her daughter and granddaughter.
