A widespread water disruption has hit Maxesibeni after a major pipeline burst near government buildings close to Maxesibeni Hospital, affecting multiple parts of the town.
The Alfred Nzo District Municipality says the outage is not limited to one area, with several sections of the town experiencing interruptions. The damage is linked to a burst pipe in the hospital area, where key public facilities are located.
According to the municipality, a contractor responsible for the nearby office infrastructure is expected to carry out repairs, but work has not yet been completed as the contractor is still waiting for a replacement pipe.
At the same time, a second pipe has burst in Ntlentzi village, adding pressure to an already strained water system. The municipality says repair work in Ntlentzi is being handled directly and is underway.
For residents, this means continued reliance on water tankers, which the municipality says will be deployed to supply affected communities. However, no timeline has been confirmed for when full water services will be restored.
The situation highlights ongoing infrastructure weaknesses in parts of Alfred Nzo, where pipe failures can disrupt both households and essential services like clinics and government offices.
Residents are being asked to remain patient while repairs continue. The municipality has apologised for the disruption but has not confirmed how long the outages will last.
