Minister of Police Senzo Mchunu, accompanied by his two Deputy Ministers, National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola, and Eastern Cape MEC for Safety Xolile Nqatha, visited Ngobozana Village in Lusikisiki following a horrific mass shooting that claimed the lives of 18 people.

The high-level delegation arrived at the crime scene to assess the situation firsthand and to offer support to the grieving families. The visit serves as both an expression of condolences and a crucial opportunity to engage with the local community about the rising crime rates in the area.

In a community engagement session held after the visit, the delegation discussed the government’s urgent interventions to combat crime and enhance public safety. Minister Mchunu reassured residents that additional resources and measures will be deployed to address the escalating violence.

“This tragedy highlights the need for immediate and sustained government intervention. We are committed to working with communities to tackle crime head-on and ensure the safety of all citizens,” Minister Mchunu said.

The delegation’s visit underscores the government’s commitment to addressing crime and supporting affected communities during this devastating time. Local leaders and residents expressed their concerns, hoping the dialogue will lead to effective solutions.

Authorities have pledged to continue investigating the incident and to bring those responsible for the attack to justice.
