In the wake of this violence, Kumkani Mhlontlo Mayor Mbulelo Jara has condemned the act in the strongest terms, emphasizing that no individual should feel unsafe in their own home. “This senseless destruction is unacceptable, and it is our collective responsibility to ensure the safety of every community member,” the Mayor stated.

The municipality is united in offering heartfelt support to Mr. Mqeke and his family during this trying time. “We trust law enforcement will conduct a thorough investigation and bring those responsible to justice,” added Jara, assuring the community that steps are being taken to address the situation.

Additionally, the municipality took this opportunity to remind residents, especially municipal staff, of the importance of confidentiality regarding internal affairs. Protecting personal information and work-related processes is crucial to prevent misuse that could lead to further acts of violence or disruption.

The Kumkani Mhlontlo Municipality encourages all residents to work together to maintain a peaceful and respectful community.
