On Monday, Mkhwebane formally became a member of the EFF. She stated that she joined the organization of red berets because she supported its seven cardinal pillars and wanted to keep defending South Africans. The new Member received a warm welcome by the EFF on Friday in Cape Town during a signing ceremony.
The party acknowledged Mkhwebane’s accomplishments, noting that she had a distinguished career in civil service, holding important positions as a director in the Department of Home Affairs, a senior investigator in the Office of the Public Protector, and a senior researcher for the South African Human Rights Commission.
Because of a Section 194 inquiry report that recommended Mkhwebane’s removal due to incompetence and misbehavior, an overwhelming majority of politicians voted to remove her from office last month.
She stated to the media on Monday that although she received terrible treatment from the Democratic Alliance (DA) and the African National Congress (ANC), her decision to join the EFF was not motivated by hatred.
“I’m not joining the EFF to apply for employment. She declared, “I will be a faithful, involved, and disciplined member of the EFF. I was treated unfairly by the ANC and DA, and at the end of the day, I could stand this treatment to expose them for not being there for the poor and marginalized.”
