Eskom has decided to suspend services in areas under Nyandeni Local Municipality, after a rise in the number of hijackings and an alleged killing which has threatened the lives of its employees. A recent incident took place in Misty Mount, where the life of an Eskom official was threatened by an unknown group of people to hijack the official and taking their tools of trade.
Due to these recent incidents, Eskom will only attend to emergencies in these areaa.
Such a decision was taken in an effort to protect their employees from the said danger.
Nyandeni Local Municipality’s Honourable Mayor, Cllr. Viwe Ndamase therefore condemns this act of violence and intimidation against Eskom officials.
