Let me greet the listener of Alfred Nzo Community Radio. My name is Melissa Dumela, daughter of eMaMpondweni, (Mpondoland), but you can call me Melz,” she wrote. “Time flies when you’re relaxed and doing what you love.

Melissa’s passion for radio started early. Growing up with strict parents, her main source of entertainment was tuning into Umhlobo Wenene FM. Shows like Emfuleni Wohando inspired her, sparking a desire to become a radio presenter.

“Back then, it felt like a dream so far away,” Melissa shared. “I used to point at my favorite radio personalities and say, ‘That’s who I want to be.’ Now, kids in my neighborhood point at me and say, ‘I want to be like her.’ It’s the best feeling ever.”

Melissa credits her success to the unwavering support of her community.

“I have learned that I have a family in all of you. Your belief in me played a role in making my dream a reality. Thank you.”

As she wraps up an unforgettable 2024, Melissa looks forward to what 2025 has in store for her career at NZOFM. “I thank God for this opportunity. I will use it to spread the gospel and empower others,” she wrote.
