The courtroom was packed, with Mofokeng’s family members seated anxiously on one side. In contrast, Mofokeng appeared relaxed as she entered the dock.

Before proceedings began, Mofokeng’s attorney, Marcia Makuse, attempted to block media coverage of the case. However, Magistrate Rozelle Khaye dismissed this application, allowing media to record and film the proceedings.

The matter was postponed for a formal bail application, scheduled for Monday, January 27, 2025. Until then, Mofokeng will remain in custody without bail.

Mofokeng’s arrest came after a joint operation by the Gauteng Province Cold Case Investigation Unit and the Gauteng Counter Intelligence Investigation office on Sunday, January 19, 2025. She was traced and arrested at her residence in Failands and later in the Mondeor area.
