Port St John’s Local Municipality has unveiled brand-new construction machinery in a major push to strengthen service delivery and improve local infrastructure. The handover took place on 18 November 2025, led by the Mayor, councillors, and senior officials. The leadership also conducted a clean-up oversight visit in town, urging residents to help keep the area safe and healthy during the festive period.
What Happened
The municipality officially introduced new construction equipment aimed at enhancing road maintenance, waste management, and infrastructure development. Councillors joined the Mayor and the Acting Municipal Manager during the handover ceremony.
Soon after, the leadership moved through the town centre, inspecting drainage systems and the local dumpsite. The oversight visit formed part of a broader campaign to promote cleanliness and community responsibility.
Official Response
The Mayor stressed the importance of maintaining a clean environment as the holiday season approaches. “We want Port St John’s to be a place where people can live, work, and visit with pride,” the Mayor said.
Officials added that the new machinery will accelerate service delivery programmes and improve the municipality’s response to infrastructure challenges.
Community Impact
Residents, businesses, and incoming holidaymakers are expected to benefit from improved services and cleaner public spaces. Municipal leaders urged traders and community members to use dustbins and actively support waste-management efforts.
