Umzimvubu Municipality Negotiates Resolution, Opens Routes to KwaBhaca 

In a bid to address ongoing traffic disruptions in KwaBhaca, Umzimvubu Local Municipality has successfully brokered a resolution following negotiations with the Taxi Association and engagement with the Provincial Department of Transport.

The Municipality, in its initial statement, revealed that talks between the Taxi Association and Municipal Leadership were underway. Additionally, efforts were being made to collaborate with the Provincial Department of Transport to find a viable solution to the impasse.

During the negotiation process, internal streets and access points to KwaBhaca remained closed, causing inconvenience to residents and travelers. However, the Municipality assured the public that regular updates would be provided throughout the day to keep them informed about the evolving situation, emphasizing the importance of patience during this period.

A facebook user, Ncedo Martin Mshushwana said, “I think Khiwa they see it as an effective way to get attention from government about their complaints. I don’t support this behavior but it seems effective and they know it’s almost elections so government will react promptly. This behavior will perpetuate unfortunately because people emulate such tendencies easily. Tomorrow it will definitely be somewhere else as yesterday morning ut was N2 btwn Gcuwa and Dutywa

Following the conclusion of negotiations, the Umzimvubu Local Municipality issued a traffic advisory announcing the resolution. All routes and access points to KwaBhaca are set to gradually reopen, with the process expected to be completed by 12:30pm. A detailed statement on the matter will be released later today.

The Municipality expressed gratitude for the patience exhibited by residents and commuters during the disruption, extending sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused.

The resolution marks a significant step forward in alleviating traffic congestion and restoring normalcy to the area, providing relief to the community of KwaBhaca and facilitating smoother transportation operations.
