In a concerted effort to combat the surge in stock theft, the police force is diligently pursuing any leads that may lead to the recovery of stolen livestock and the apprehension of those responsible. Members affiliated with the Tsolo Stock Theft Unit recently acted on credible information, resulting in the apprehension of two suspects and the successful recovery of stolen stock in Tsolo.
Acting on the received intelligence, the police followed through and proceeded to Ntibane farms. Here, the rightful owner positively identified forty-two (42) out of the forty-nine stolen sheep. Valued at approximately R84,000.00, the recovered sheep were promptly returned to the elated rightful owner, marking a significant triumph in the battle against stock theft. The theft had occurred in the Matyeba locality between Friday, January 19, 2024, and Saturday, January 20, 2024.
The two suspects, aged 41, were taken into custody and have been formally charged with stock theft (possession of suspected stolen stock). They are scheduled to appear before the Tsolo Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, January 23, 2024.
