On Tuesday YOUR PLUG and Masakhe Ikamva Lethu hosted a tertiary and bursary application day in Bizana town at Love Life Youth Centre. Your plug is a foundation that helps youth with tertiary and bursary applications: the idea is to connect the youth with its future and Masakhe Ikamva Lethu empowers young individuals to see and become better versions of themselves.
The day was set to assist Matriculants with university and bursary applications and for some to check and interpret application statuses. The foundation saw a gap between students who come from disadvantaged rural communities and other communities with better access to information and resources then decided to assist the matriculants
A number of pupils who have obtained their matric were assisted and some where advised on what route to take in the case where universities were not an option.
One of the pupil who was assisted, Luxolo Masoka said he appreciates the initiative more especially because it is a free service.
It seemed as though some young people were confused and did not understand their current UMALUSI statuses and had no idea what they wanted to apply for at higher institutions of learning which resulted in some choosing whatever was available for them to study.
