Matatiele came alive with colour on Saturday, 7th September 2024, as hikers participated in the 2nd Colour Hike, hosted by the tourism and events company Exploring with Makhoza. The event marked the arrival of spring, with colourful smoke filling the air as participants trekked the scenic 10km route, painting the town in vibrant hues.
Led by Zimasa Ndaba, the company organises monthly hikes, offering locals and visitors alike the chance to experience the beauty of Matatiele.
“We believe that Agri-Tourism holds immense potential for sustainable tourism in Matatiele,” said Ndaba, noting the unique experience of hiking through farmlands surrounded by cows, horses, and blossoming trees.

The hike not only celebrated spring but also coincided with Tourism Month, encouraging domestic tourism and promoting wellness and healthy living. Standard Bank Matatiele supported the event, reinforcing the importance of both physical health and community engagement.
