The South African Football Association has revealed the new 2026–2027 home jersey for the national teams.
As of 3 March 2026, the new SAFA, Bafana Bafana jersey 2026, adidas South Africa jersey, Banyana Banyana kit was officially launched in partnership with adidas. The design continues South Africa’s traditional yellow and green colours while introducing new symbolic and performance features.
The jersey will be worn by both Bafana Bafana and Banyana Banyana in upcoming international tournaments during 2026 and 2027.
What is happening?
The South African Football Association (SAFA) and adidas have launched the 2026–2027 South Africa home jersey for the national football teams.
The new design draws inspiration from the 2010 World Cup jersey, which became a national symbol during South Africa’s historic hosting of the tournament.
However, the updated kit introduces new design elements that reflect the country’s diversity and the evolution of the national teams.
Key design changes include:
- A yellow base with green trim, maintaining the national team’s traditional colours
- Fabric patterns inspired by South Africa’s 12 official languages
- A modern performance-focused silhouette for elite football competition
- A lenticular heat-applied SAFA crest and adidas logo
According to SAFA and adidas, the jersey represents a new era of South African football while honouring historic national identity.
Why it matters to fans and players
National team jerseys carry symbolic meaning beyond sport.
SAFA says the updated design represents unity and shared identity among South Africans. The visual pattern woven into the fabric reflects the country’s 12 official languages, symbolising the many voices supporting the national teams in stadiums and across the world.
Importantly, the jersey has been designed with specific gender-fit considerations so both Bafana Bafana and Banyana Banyana have tailored versions of the kit.
SAFA leadership says the launch also aims to inspire young players across the country who hope to represent South Africa in future.
