The Kokstad running community, under the banner of the #4AM club, hosted their final long-distance preparation run early Sunday morning in anticipation of the prestigious Comrades Marathon scheduled for June 8th, 2025.

The challenging 50-kilometre run attracted over 40 dedicated runners from local and regional clubs, including the XJAC club from Emaxesibeni and RunR56 from Matatiele. Ninety percent of the route consisted of gravel roads, providing ideal training conditions for long-distance endurance athletes.

Dr Pholani Majola, the secretary of the #4AM runners, praised the runners for their steadfast preparation and commitment. “I am deeply impressed by what I saw today. You are more than ready. Go out there and enjoy yourselves, fellow runners,” he enthusiastically stated.

Dr Majola also expressed gratitude to local businessman Oussein Thiam of La Teranga Accommodation & Conference Group, who generously provided a delicious meal for the athletes following their grueling run.

“The meal was exactly what everyone needed after such an excruciating effort,” Dr Majola added.

With the Comrades Marathon only weeks away, Dr Majola advised runners to maintain caution during this final stretch, urging participants to pace themselves to avoid unnecessary injuries ahead of the big day.
