Golden Arrows have been slapped with a FIFA transfer ban on 18 November 2025 after a dispute involving former striker Knox Mutizwa. The sanction affects three transfer windows and follows the player’s departure at the end of last season.
The ban takes effect immediately and impacts all squad-building plans at the Durban-based club.
What Happened?
FIFA confirmed that Golden Arrows failed to meet outstanding financial obligations owed to Knox Mutizwa, who left the club before the 2023/24 season ended.
As a foreign player, Mutizwa took the matter straight to FIFA instead of using the PSL dispute resolution chamber.
He later joined provincial rivals Richards Bay, signing after the new season had already begun.
Arrows now join a growing list of South African clubs facing FIFA action.
Recent cases include TS Galaxy, Richards Bay, Chippa United and Kaizer Chiefs.
Key facts:
- Three-window FIFA transfer ban
- Linked to unpaid financial obligations to Mutizwa
- Ban lifted only once Arrows settle what is owed
- Mutizwa now plays for Richards Bay
Official Response
Golden Arrows have not issued a formal statement.
However, FIFA’s website notes that the ban will remain in place until the club pays the outstanding amount due to the Zimbabwean international.
A PSL compliance source said the growing number of FIFA cases shows:
“clubs must tighten contract management and honour payment agreements.”
Community Impact
The ban arrives during a crucial phase of the season.Arrows fans worry that squad depth will take a hit, especially if injuries mount. Local football analysts say the team may struggle to strengthen key positions in the next two windows.
However, the situation could shift quickly.
Once the club settles its financial obligations to Mutizwa, the ban will be lifted without delay.
