Durban City and head coach Gavin Hunt parted ways after five months together. The decision was made on 30 November 2025, just days before City face Orbit College in their final fixture before the AFCON break.
What Happened?
Hunt joined City at the start of the season, shortly after their promotion from the Motsepe Foundation Championship under Simo Dladla. Dladla has since moved to AmaZulu as Arthur Zwane’s assistant.
City currently sits seventh on the log, safe from the relegation zone occupied by Chippa United. However, senior officials are preparing for a new direction for the second half of the campaign.

The club has not issued a formal statement. However, internal discussions began and accelerated.
A senior official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said:
“We’ve reviewed the season so far and agreed that a change may be best for both parties.”
