Led by head coach Vela Khumalo, the team is determined to challenge the world’s best, starting with their opening fixture against Bolivia on Monday.

At a farewell breakfast hosted by SAFA, team captain Kamohelo Mareletse said the squad is inspired by Morocco’s recent U-20 victory over Argentina, adding: “We’re here to compete, not to participate.”

Official Response

Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi, SAFA President Dr Danny Jordaan, and CEO Lydia Monyepao were among the dignitaries who sent the team off with strong words of encouragement.

“You have a big responsibility but also a very big opportunity,” said Dr Jordaan. “Go and seek glory — for yourselves and for the nation.”

Coach Khumalo thanked SAFA and the public for their support, saying the team was focused and ready for the challenge.
