The members of Shincheonji Church of Jesus are at it again, showing their acts of kindness through the recent Blood Drive in collaboration with the South African National Blood Service (SANBS) on Friday, 22 September 2023.
It is widely known that South Africa is still experiencing a high demand for blood across all blood banks and hospitals in the country. The SANBS continues to plead with active donors, lapsed donors and potential donors to bolster the national blood stocks. SANBS runs blood drives across the country throughout the week. Blood groups O and B individuals of course being those who can make the biggest and immediate difference, but all donors’ commitment to saving lives is appreciated.
A staff member who was present at the Shincheonji Blood Donation Drive stated that:
“Shincheonji has been one of the most amazing places that I have been to in my line of work, I think Shincheonji has done an outstanding job with regards to helping people and the SANBS to get blood.” He continued to urge that Shincheonji should keep up this work, to keep on supporting and saving lives.
The church members were ecstatic and shared that this is one way they can show the love of God and Christ to the community at large. “We have come to understand that thousands of patients could die daily if there is insufficient blood in stock. We donate blood to give patients a gift money cannot buy, or science cannot create,” shared a donor from the congregation.
Through ‘Shincheonji Volunteers’, the congregation members of the Gqeberha church branch have worked together, displaying their heart of giving and serving. This is the way of being ONE with the community and to spread love, consideration and volunteerism. The members have held multiple blood drives and were spurring each other on, striving to achieve more than 100 donations this Friday.
The Shincheonji Volunteers have been involved in many outreach initiatives throughout this year. Recently, a Sanitary Pad Drive for Mandela Day was held on 18 July 2023. The donations collected from congregation members were distributed to the location of Malabar in Gqeberha. They have also touched the hearts of the pupils and teachers of Ben Sinuka Primary School through a Stationery Drive and those of the Koega Door of Hope through donating food parcels. The congregation members continuously hope that through their heavenly culture, they will inspire not only the Christian community, but the whole of Gqeberha.
