The Eastern Cape community mourns the tragic loss of Captain Bulelani Mvundlela (57), a dedicated police officer fatally shot outside his residence in KwaBhaca. The Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Nomthetheleli Mene, condemns the cowardly attack and urges anyone with information to come forward.

In a devastating turn of events on Saturday evening, Captain Mvundlela was discovered lifeless next to his police vehicle, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. As investigations unfold, authorities are appealing to the public for assistance in apprehending the perpetrators responsible for this heinous crime.

Lieutenant General Mene expressed grave concern over the recurring attacks on law enforcement officials, stressing the importance of holding those accountable for such barbaric acts. Despite the irreparable loss, authorities vow to pursue justice relentlessly.

While no arrests have been made, the KwaBhaca police station has opened a murder case to facilitate further inquiries into this senseless tragedy.

Sadly, this incident echoes a similar occurrence in November, where a Kwazulu Natal officer was fatally shot outside his home under chilling circumstances, underscoring the urgent need for heightened security measures to protect those who serve and protect.
