FlySafair Incident Highlights South Africa’s Intersecting Prejudices

Regarding the airborne FlySafair skirmish involving the SABC Brand Manager & outright self-confessed ANC Anointee , Beneficiary & Indoctrinee [ABI] as in ‘I’m an ANC Bitch’ reference, Nobuntu ‘Nobs’ Mkhize, that was just another case study of the commonalities between Black Educational Snobs [BES] and Verkrampte Witmense [VW], as in White Supremacists, of South Africa since the advent CODESA about 30+ years ago.

As I have experienced and observed it for many years , often than not Black People that have some documented qualification/s and White People with feelings of inadequacy , tend to share some of these attributes:- [1] Prejudice that is based on an often unfounded sense of superiority [2] Entitlement [3] Naïveté ; if not outright ignorance [3] Being snooty towards their fellow race group members that haven’t seemingly leveled-up to their status quo ; as in money , social status, education and/or material possessions [4] Defend each other , in some dramatic irony, especially when a presumably none or ill-educated and/or materially less well-off person from their very own race group is raising a disturbing issue against either parties involved.

Black Educational Snob , as in the Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment [BBBEE] context herein , entails Nubian Africans , Coloured-cum-Khoisan nowadays, Indians, Chinese and the rest of Non-Aryan groupings. In one of my personal experiences , a snooty Black former colleague at Volkswagen in Uitenhage that clearly gets paid very well than myself , told me in my face with thinly-veiled comedic contempt that I would have been a “problem” if I was “educated”, essentially meaning being an ordinary production operator does not qualify to be respected by his delusional kind; but I brushed off that remark as being a Snob , Status-conscious and/or Shallow-minded like himself just mean the very same thing as those phenomena are fuelled collectively by bigotry , intellectual inferiority and child-like ignorance; at the very least.

Lest we forget, the majority of Black South South Africans tend to be ignorant of the fact that education has never increased anyone’s Intelligence Quotient [IQ], albeit embellishing its recipients ; thus making someone with a documented qualification as being automatically ingenious if not outright wise than anyone seemingly beneath their educational status.

In the part of White , Coloured and/or Indian colleagues, some have quipped that I seem to think that I am “clever” or that “you are actually ‘smart’ for a Black man” ; often meaning that I should cower when they are making disparaging blanket statements and/or thinly-veiled racist jokes about bumbling Black politicians and/or presumed ‘BEE’ millionaires in my presence.

The said Nobuntu “Nobs” Mkhize saga therefore has ticked all the ignorance boxes in the Black Educational Snob [BES] checklist , especially with the stereotype that presumes that: [1] Western Cape Coloured people typically originate from racial & cultural demarcations like Mitchell’s Plain [2] The wearing of expensive jewellery by the said racial group takes precedence over having a Degree or any qualification, at that [3] The occupation of being on a flight attendant remuneration bracket does not warrant her the affordability of having a car ; let alone simple treatment with human decency.

I am therefore often vilified , gossiped about and/or bad-mouthed by the post 1994 Radical Economic Transformation [RET] entitled “activists” as being jealous of other Black people’s money , an under-achiever that remains stuck in a dead-end job in a German factory, “worshipping” Whites , Coloureds & Indians and/or a moaner against “black excellence” , whenever I am pointing out such blatant disrespect & disdain towards a fellow human being.

The disrespect that is also not afforded to me is often also based on the very same said flight attendant lady on that FlySafair flight , as a prejudiced & presumed lack of shallow earthly commodities that are money , status and/or materialism which are blatantly worshipped and flaunted nowadays. 4rom Luyanda Marlon Kama , Kwa-Dwesi , Port Elizabeth.
