Matatiele Local Municipality is taking proactive steps to address the pressing issue of unemployment by organizing a Business/Career Expo and Mayoral Outreach Programme. Scheduled for Thursday, 29 February 2024, at North End Stadium, the event aims to bring government information and services directly to the community, fostering integration and accessibility.
This initiative serves as a pivotal moment for Matatiele, as it marks the beginning of strategic partnerships with various institutions dedicated to shaping the community’s skills base. By professionalizing skillsets, the municipality seeks to enhance the community’s capacity to contribute effectively to the development and growth of Matatiele’s economic sectors.
The Business/Career Expo will gather key stakeholders including SETAs, the Department of Higher Education and Training, the National Skills Fund, institutions of higher learning, banks, entities, and private sector partners. Together, they will impart invaluable knowledge to Matatiele entrepreneurs, unemployed youth, businesses, and other interested parties. The primary objective is to equip individuals with the necessary skills and resources to combat unemployment and address skill shortages within the community.
