The South African National Roads Agency Limited (SANRAL) together with the Matatiele Local Municipality and the Department of Education in the Alfred Nzo West held a Career Expo at the Matatiele Old Rugby Fields on the 19th of July 2023 for Grade 7 and 12 pupils from various schools of Matatiele.

The Career Expo’s main objective included prioritising career interventions and related activities to develop and upskill the in-school youth.

Career guidance interventions and exhibitions have proven to be appropriate vehicles to channel key messages on opportunities that exist in different sectors of the economy.

Invited to the Expo were various institutions of higher learning such as the Fort Hare University, the Walter Sisulu University, and Durban University of Technology who were able to share their different programmes of offering and assisted the youth that attended the Expo.

The Municipality encourages schools to prioritize career guidance programmes in order to help the in-school youth to make career choices that will benefit them in the future.

SANRAL official Ms. Welekazi Ndika alluded that this initiative intends to empower learners with access to information on the various career opportunities available to them and to expose them to institutions of Higher Education, Bursary opportunities at their disposal, and to enable interfacing with various corporates on career options within their reach.
