Sibonelo Ndabeni is a football player who was stabbed in 2011 by one of his peers during a fight, after being rushed to the hospital he was told that his arm had to be amputated.
“It was difficult for me to accept the situation and the thought of seeing my dream of becoming a professional footballer shuttered in front of my eyes was hard,” said Ndabeni
Surprisingly, it took me less than 3 months to accept the fact that I was then disabled through the support structure from different people who enlighten me that I could still play football, he said. Since the incident, Ndabeni has played for many teams in the promotion level, SAB level and ABC Motsepe league level.
He has shared has played for a team from Kokstad, Mt Ayliff, Bizana, Mount Fere, Mtata and Durban.
“Given a circumstance that you can not change the only mental strength tool you can use it to accept the situation but never give up on your dreams” Ndabeni gave an advice to those who might be experiencing a physical disability.
