Banyana Banyana head coach Dr. Desiree Ellis has announced a 46-player preliminary squad for the upcoming 2025 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), set to take place in Morocco from 5 to 26 July 2025.

The provisional squad, revealed on 31 May 2025, includes a blend of seasoned internationals and emerging talents, reflecting Ellis’s strategy to maintain a competitive edge while fostering new talent.

“We have a pool of experienced players who have been with us through various campaigns, and it’s crucial to integrate new players to ensure continuity and depth,” said Ellis during the announcement.

The final 23-player squad will be announced on 23 June 2025 in Johannesburg, after which the team will depart for Morocco to commence their title defense.

South Africa enters the tournament as the defending champions, having secured their maiden WAFCON title in 2022. The team aims to build on this success and make a strong impression in the upcoming competition.
