After many years of struggle, ward 2 residents under Winnie Madikizela Mandela Local Municipality took it upon their hands and fought for what they believe is their right, service delivery.

On January 2023 ward 2 residents embarked on a protest in their ward complaining of poor service delivery, stating that their roads have never been maintained for more than a decade.

After seeing that their complaints were not attended to, they then took the march to the streets of Bizana town in February.

After long considerations, Winnie Madikizela Mandela Local Municipality mayor Hon Daniswa Mafumbatha finally visited the ward on Monday the 13th of February 20223 to give an ear to the complaining residents.

Ward 2 Ward Cllr Sindisiwe Mphoswa said she can confirm that the mayor did come and promised the residents that in three weeks’ time there will be an introduction of a contractor to fix ward 2 roads.

“This is not the first promise of its kind, but we will remain hopeful until we see Road construction at Ntamonde. But if the mayor doesn’t keep her promises we will then take the next step because we are going to fight tooth and nail for service delivery in our ward”,said Mosuli Cwele a resident at Ntamonde village in ward.

According to reports the mayor informed the residents that on the 27th of February 2023 there will be a council meeting to discuss these issues. And promised ward 2 residents that on the first week of March 2023 the municipality will be done with the processes of appointing a contractor for ward 2 road construction.

Residents are now looking forward to the next 3 weeks for the start of the road construction project.
