On Monday, 6th of September 2021, Umzimvubu Local Municipality celebrated arbor day at Sophia recreational park in KwaBhaca.

Local schools from both KwaBhaca and EmaXesibeni participated during this program, presenting different topics on the conservation of trees.

Umzimvubu mayor, Cllr Sobane Mnukwa highlighted the importance of the Arbor celebration and urged all Umzimvubu residents to continue practising greening and conserve trees to avoid environmental issues.

More than six schools were awarded with certificates for participating in this program and later received seedlings to plant in their respective schools. Umzimvubu Local Municipality aims to have planted more than 100 trees by then end the current financial year.
