What happened
Cllr. Tsileng Sobuthongo, currently the Mayor of Ntabankulu Local Municipality, is set to be sworn in as the new Executive Mayor of Alfred Nzo District Municipality (ANDM) today. The swearing-in will take place during the 11th Special Council Meeting at 15:00 in the ANDM Council Chambers, eMaXesibeni.
She replaces outgoing Executive Mayor Cllr. Nomasomi Mshuqwana.
Official response
The announcement was issued by the Alfred Nzo District Municipality Communications Unit. A post-swearing-in media briefing is expected immediately after the council sitting. Cllr. Sobuthongo is also scheduled to outline her key priorities and provide feedback from the 03rd Ordinary Council Meeting held earlier today.
Community impact
This leadership transition comes at a time of growing interest in municipal service delivery performance across the Alfred Nzo region. A new Deputy Executive Mayor is also expected to be elected today.
