Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula, together with the Minister in the Presidency, Mondli Gungubele, Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure, Patricia De Lille, and the Premier of the Eastern Cape Province, Oscar Mabuyane, will conduct an oversight visit to monitor progress on work done by the South African National Roads Agency SOC Limited (SANRAL) to rehabilitate the R61 national road.
The visit follows the damage which was caused by persistent rains on the R61 where a bridge culvert on the road collapsed, causing it to sag. This left many road users inconvenienced.
The Ministers and members of the provincial government will also conduct an oversight visit to emaXesibeni (Mount Ayliff) on a newly constructed bridge.
The morning session will be held at Ntomo Junction between 9am-10h30 on Friday 4th of February 2022
