The toddler was taken to Linksfield Hospital in a critical condition, where he later passed away.

The grieving family said it was battling to come to terms with the sudden tragedy.

Kganya’s family is requesting CCTV footage to show what caused their child’s death and claims that the provincial authorities are on their way to force access to it.

The family has been told Kganya was in one of the classes at snack time when he reached over to a nearby unsecured bookshelf leaning against the wall.

According to the school’s statement, the boy suffered head wounds when the enormous structure collapsed on him.

Kganya’s uncle, Solly Mokhele accused the school of trying to cover their tracks.

“They are just giving us stories,” he said.

“We are just confused right now. We just don’t know. We brought the child to school in the safe hands of teachers, and then this happens.”
