President Cyril Ramaphosa recently participated in the Friends of AfCFTA Forum, titled “Turning Digital Trade into a Catalyst for Growth in Africa,” held at the World Economic Forum in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland. The forum provided a platform for discussing digital trade and the private sector’s role in implementing the AfCFTA Digital Trade Protocol.

The session was attended by African Heads of State and Government, Trade Ministers, and representatives from the private sector. Ramaphosa’s participation underscored South Africa’s commitment to promoting digital trade and economic growth in Africa.

The AfCFTA Digital Trade Protocol, adopted by the AU Heads of State and Government in January 2024, aims to harness digital trade as a catalyst for economic growth and development in Africa. By leveraging digital technologies, African countries can increase trade, improve economic competitiveness, and create new opportunities for businesses and individuals.
