President Cyril Ramaphosa was at Qungebe, Bizana on Wednesday to officially handover Little Flower early childhood development centre, The East Cape Premier Oscar Mabuyane was among the government officials who accompanied the president. The centre was donated by the Nelson Mandela foundation and President Cyril Ramaphosa patron of Cyril Ramaphosa Foundation in partnership with, Basic Education Social Development, Old Mutual foundation and Vangasali campaign (every child matters)

Chief executive of the Nelson Mandela Foundation, Selo Hatang says the President offered to donate half of his salary to the Nelson Mandela Foundation and they it used to invest in early childhood development.  The dialogue and advocacy analyst of the Nelson Mandela foundation Qhamani Tshazi says the launch is trying show and pilot a model that they are hoping to be replicated in other areas, which is low coast infrastructure.

The president said from the first of April the ECD was moved from the department social development to the department of basic education and s to upload the department of basic education for having moved with speed and having begun the program and also allocating the money to ensure that the ECD also succeeds.

He continued to say government is making significant investments in ECD with national treasury allocating an amount of R1.2 billion as a conditional grant to expand services, which aims to increase the number of children placed at early childhood development centres.

Ma’am Xabendlini who is a teacher at Little Flower said they are overjoyed and it is quite a special day them as the centre it is a day they will never forget and they are grateful to the President, the Nelson Mandela foundation all the stakeholders who made the opening of the entre possible.
