The Winnie Madikizela-Mandela Local Municipality has officially handed over a construction site for a new manufacturing hub in Ndlovumile Village, Ward 16.
The handover took place on 9 June 2026, with Vitsha Trading appointed as the contractor responsible for building the facility.
According to the municipality, the project is expected to take 12 months to complete and will create employment opportunities for local residents during the construction phase.
The manufacturing hub is aimed at strengthening local economic development, improving infrastructure and creating opportunities for businesses in the area.

Municipal officials say the project is expected to deliver long-term benefits by supporting entrepreneurship, expanding economic activity and improving access to business opportunities for community members.
Speaking during the handover, Winnie Madikizela-Mandela Local Municipality Mayor, Councillor Daniswa Mafumbatha, welcomed the project and thanked all stakeholders involved.
She said the manufacturing hub would play an important role in improving the lives of residents while contributing to development and economic growth within the municipality.
The project forms part of ongoing efforts to stimulate rural economic development and create sustainable opportunities for local communities.
