Eastern Cape Premier Lubabalo Oscar Mabuyane will on Thursday, 19 October 2023 receive the Provincial census results from Statistics South Africa (Stats SA), at the East London Industrial Development Zone (ELIDZ).
The Statistician-General, Mr Risenga Maluleke, will officially handover the provincial statistics report to Premier Mabuyane. The report will announce and further detail the results of the population, including the housing count of the Eastern Cape Province.
Previous census results pronounced in 2011 indicated that the province had a population of 6.5 million, with the black community dominating.
Census data is an important data source used for planning and evidence based decision making by government and various sectors of society.
The official handover of the report will take place at the East London Industrial Development Zone Conference Center, 9h00 on Thursday this week.
