As the fight against Gender-based violence and femicide continues across the country, Ndayingana residents took it upon their hands and embarked on a peaceful protest from O.R Tambo cultural village in Bizana town to Bizana Magistrate Court today, saying No bail to Mandlenkosi Ngcwaba accused of raping a 17-year-old girl earlier this month.

Hlamandana senior secondary school grade 9 learners and teachers joined the march, to show support for their classmate, who was allegedly raped by Ngcwaba.

One of Ndayingana residents who asked to be kept anonymous says this is Not the first incident of its kind in Bizana. Adding that most cases of this nature are usually left unresolved.

It is said that the girl was sleeping alone in her home when the alleged perpetrator sneaked in and attacked her. While narrating the story to her family and friend’s she said, when Ngcwaba walked in she thought it was her mother as she was expecting her arrival.

Meanwhile, One of the community members says the mother of the girl was drinking with her friends and Ngcwaba in a tavern, on the night of the incident. She further says Ngcwaba left the Tarven around 2 AM, leaving the mother of the victim behind.

Meanwhile, the alleged rapist Mandlenkosi Ngcwaba denies these accusations saying that he was in a relationship with the girl.

Mixed emotions were written in ward  5 residents as they walked out of the court with good news that the alleged perpetrator will remain behind bars until his formal bail application which will be on the 14 June 2022
