Julius Malema rubbished the threats made by the controversial figure Ngizwe Mchunu over attending the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) rally to be held at Moses Mabhida stadium on the 10th of February 2024.

When asked at a press conference about the differences between him (Malema) and Mchunu, the commander in chief reassured his determination to visit the Zululand with no fear whatsoever as Mchunu who is famous for charges of instigating violence during the June riots threatened to storm the stadium if Malema came to this place.

“I have been in the politics for a long time, we went and introduced the ANC to Nongoma when it was very hostile, with IFP members out for blood yet we had members in the area. I will go to Moses Mabhida stadium and Mchunu is a small boy who cannot touch me”, said Malema.

After a video circulated of Mchunu making tribal remarks, multiple political figures came out to disassociate themselves from the speech which pointed out hatred of Zulus for other tribal groups. Linda Sibiya, a Zulu, radio presenter and EFF member bashed Mchunu for using the Zulu name to advance his hatred and said that he should not have included the Kwa-Zulu Natal nation for his selfish clout chasing.

“I need to point out that Mr Malema is a very old man with wife and kids, whatever disagreements you might have with him does not justify the insults posed against him. Must not use the Zulu name to project his hatred for other tribes”, said Sibiya.
