Doc Shebeleza was a pioneering figure in the kwaito genre, inspired by the likes of Brenda Fassie and Mandoza. His music career spanned over two decades, with hits like “Ghets Ghetsa” and “S’kumfete” cementing his place in South African music history.

The musician had undergone surgery on December 2, 2024, and was scheduled for a second operation on February 2, 2025. However, his family confirmed his passing to the Daily Sun, with his daughter Segaetsho stating, “Yes, I can confirm that he passed away this morning.”

The family has promised to release an official press statement in due course. As the nation mourns the loss of this kwaito legend, his music and legacy will continue to inspire and entertain fans for generations to come.
