KSD Municipality Starts Ward 21 Road Projects for Access, Jobs

• Rural Infrastructure Projects Launch in Ward 21: The King Sabata Dalindyebo Municipality has initiated two road construction projects in Ward 21, aiming to enhance access and connectivity in rural areas.
• Contractors Handed Over for Road Construction: Two contractors, Kula Afrika Projects and Hlubi Engineering Trading and Projects, have been officially appointed to construct gravel roads in Manyosini and Sikhobeni respectively.
• Project Details and Objectives: The projects involve building a 4-kilometre road in Manyosini and a 4.5-kilometre road in Sikhobeni, designed to improve local access, especially during rainy seasons, and facilitate easier transport of goods and services.
• Employment and Skills Development Opportunities: The four-month construction projects will generate 12 local jobs, supporting employment and skills development within the community.

The King Sabata Dalindyebo (KSD) Municipality has taken another step toward improving rural infrastructure with the launch of two road construction projects in Ward 21.

Executive Mayor G.N. Nelani officially handed over two contractors to begin work in the Manyosini and Sikhobeni areas as part of the municipality’s Disaster Intervention Initiative.

In Manyosini, Kula Afrika Projects will construct a 4-kilometre gravel road aimed at improving access for residents, especially during rainy seasons when travel can be difficult. In Sikhobeni, Hlubi Engineering Trading and Projects will undertake the construction of 4.5 kilometres of gravel road to connect communities and make transport of goods and services easier.

Both projects are scheduled to run for four months and will create 12 job opportunities for local residents during the construction period. The municipality says this approach not only delivers vital infrastructure but also supports local employment and skills development.

Mayor Nelani emphasised that upgrading rural roads is key to strengthening service delivery and stimulating local economies. “Better roads mean better access to schools, clinics, markets, and opportunities,” he said.
