The Government Communications Department (GCIS) in collaboration with the Winnie Madikizela Mandela Local Municipality and the Simama Career Center contacted students during the launch of the women’s month held at the Ingwe TVET college, Siteto Campus in Mbizana.
The launch was to launch and create awareness about the importance and commemoration of women’s month. The focus of the communication was to engage students, especially young women, in the economic opportunities offered by the government such as job training, vocational training, apprenticeships, bursary opportunities, programs to support income-generating projects and many other opportunities out of school.
Simama Career Centre, an NPO operating in KwaZulu Natal and the Eastern Cape, has provided advice on how students can access apprenticeships and internships by registering on their database.
This award also addresses the issues of Gender Based Violence and Feminicide and Awareness through programs such as Peace of Mind Centers.
