The Ludeke Gospel Soccer Tournament brought energy and excitement to Mbizana this past weekend as local teams battled it out in a two-day competition filled with skill, passion, and unity. The event, hosted by Mr. Luthando Mabhinca, took place at Ludeke Mission Gospel Field on Saturday, 4 October, and Sunday, 5 October 2025.
What Happened
A total of 17 teams registered for the tournament under the theme “Uyabizwa Gwala-ndini Emphelandaba,” organized by Bambanani FC. The action kicked off with a tossing ceremony on 3 October, followed by two thrilling days of soccer.
Teams competed for a R25,000 prize, with the champions earning R12,000 and 15 gold medals. In addition, the competition aimed to strengthen community ties and encourage youth development through sports.
Impisi FC Dominate the Field
Impisi FC showcased incredible form throughout the tournament. On Saturday, they defeated Golden Stars 1–0. The winning streak continued on Sunday as they beat Fast 11 by 1–0, then secured a 2–0 win against Horray. Finally, they triumphed 1–0 over Mount Zion to claim the championship title.
Their teamwork and consistency set them apart, making them clear crowd favorites. As a result, Impisi FC lifted the trophy with pride and excitement.
Individual Awards
The tournament also recognized individual brilliance:
- Player of the Tournament: Babalo “Ibe” Memani
- Goalkeeper of the Tournament: Yonela “Deza” Jaku
Both players impressed fans and teammates alike with their focus, skill, and leadership on the field.
Community Celebration
The Ludeke Gospel Tournament was more than just soccer — it was a celebration of community spirit. Families, fans, and church groups filled the stands with singing and cheering, creating a joyful atmosphere throughout the weekend.
Moreover, organizers emphasized that the event promotes youth discipline, teamwork, and faith-based community growth. It also strengthens local sports as a positive outlet for young people across Mbizana.
