Eastern Cape Launches Committee to Improve Education Quality

The Eastern Cape Department of Education hosted an induction for the new Provincial Quality Learning and Teaching Steering Committee today. Chaired by Professor Bongani Bantwini, the session marked a fresh push to improve education through teamwork and shared responsibility.

The event brought together education stakeholders from schools, unions, parent bodies, and community organizations. The new committee will lead the Quality Learning and Teaching Campaign (QLTC), a national drive to raise education standards through cooperation and accountability.

Professor Bantwini stressed the need for unity in solving classroom challenges. “Education improvement needs all hands on deck — from educators to parents and community leaders,” he said.

In addition, the committee will identify obstacles to quality teaching and design focused interventions, especially for struggling schools.
