In a significant legal development, the High Court in Pretoria has ruled that President Cyril Ramaphosa’s recognition of Zulu King Misuzulu Ka Zwelithini is unlawful and invalid, citing a flawed process. Prince Simakade and Mbonisi Zulu, a half-brother of the late King Goodwill Zwelithini, initiated the legal challenge, seeking to set aside President Ramaphosa’s recognition of Misuzulu as the rightful monarch. Additionally, Prince Simakade sought to have the meeting convened by the late Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi, where Misuzulu was identified as the heir to the throne, reviewed and set aside, including the subsequent coronation.
