A spokesperson for the Department of Education in Eastern Cape Malibongwe Mtima, confirmed that a teacher from Mdingi Junior Secondary School in Lusikisiki has been suspended for allegedly forcing male learners to commit sexual acts.

As the department, we are aware of the incident, we had to get the report from the school and then conduct a preliminary investigation and thereafter suspend the teacher, – Malibongwe Mtima.

A psycho-social support and counseling has been arranged for the learners. Parents marched to the school to ask the teacher to leave the school. One parent said she was shocked when her fourteen year old son told her about the ordeal, it is said that the teacher targeted boys between the age of 13-16 and ask them to masturbate and hand over their semen.

My son told me that the teacher called him to his cottage and asked him to commit the sexual act while watching pornography on a laptop, – said the lady.

Parents said sometimes they would see learners sitting with the teacher in his cottage where he stays but never noticed that he was doing such evil things until one of the learners reported the matter to the school principal. According to the parents there was a meeting held at school and the teacher was asked about the allegations and his answer was that he was teaching the learners about life orientation.

Police spokesperson in Eastern Cape Warrant Officer Majola Nkohli, has confirmed that Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offence Unit has done investigation on two counts of sexual assaulted.

“Two children alleged that their teacher has assaulted them sexually between February and October this. The suspect is known and his arrest is imminent,” Warrant Officer Nkohli
