King Sabata Dalindyebo (KSD) Municipality’s Special Programmes Unit launched its annual 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence and Femicide. The campaign runs from 25 November to 10 December each year.
Campaign in Action
The initiative took place at Mamela Taxi Rank in Mthatha, targeting individuals, families, and the wider community. The goal is to raise awareness of GBVF and promote safety, dignity, and accountability across households and public spaces.
Volunteers distributed educational flyers and pamphlets, providing guidance on preventing violence and accessing support services. In addition, mobile service units from the Department of Health, HIV & TB organizations, and Thuthuzela Health Care Center offered on-site assistance.
Community Impact
The programme strengthens public knowledge, encourages reporting of abuse, and reinforces community-based support systems. KSD Municipality encourages all residents to participate and engage with available services.
