Bizana Entrepreneurs Get Boost with Business Equipment and Training

Local entrepreneurs in Bizana have received a much-needed lift after the Wholesale and Retail SETA, in partnership with the Winnie Madikizela-Mandela Local Municipality (WMMLM), handed over business equipment valued at R10,000 each to 30 beneficiaries.

The support forms part of an ongoing SETA project aimed at helping small businesses in the Eastern Cape grow into sustainable ventures. Alongside the equipment, beneficiaries also completed Business Management training to strengthen their skills in running enterprises effectively.

Speaking at the handover, Mr. Larry King from the Wholesale and Retail SETA said the initiative is designed to give entrepreneurs practical tools for success. He encouraged beneficiaries to take advantage of funding and training opportunities available to them.

“This is an ongoing project created to assist growing businesses owned by people of the Eastern Cape. We urge all beneficiaries to make use of these opportunities, and we wish them success as they grow their ventures,” said King.

Her Worship, Cllr TD Mafumbatha, Mayor of WMMLM, praised the recipients for their progress and highlighted the importance of youth-led enterprises.

“This is a great initiative, especially for young people, as they now have an opportunity to grow their businesses and employ others, contributing to the town’s economy. As African people, we must support one another in business so that we all succeed,” Mafumbatha said.

Beneficiaries welcomed the initiative with gratitude. Siphokazi Nogojela from Ward 23 described the support as a “major boost” for her business, saying it will help her expand and provide better services to her community.

The programme is expected to strengthen local economic development in Bizana by empowering small business owners with both resources and knowledge, ensuring they can contribute to job creation and sustainable growth.
