The African National Congress (ANC) has confirmed the death of Comrade Dikeledi Magadzi, who passed away on the morning of 28 December 2025. A veteran of South Africa’s democratic movement, Magadzi served in various leadership roles across government and the ANC.

Magadzi held office as a Deputy Minister, Member of Parliament, and ANC National Executive Committee (NEC) member for over 15 years. The party praised her lifelong dedication to public service, governance, and grassroots democratic structures.

Magadzi’s political and government career

Comrade Magadzi began her formal political career in Limpopo, where she served as MEC across several portfolios. Her later roles in national government included Deputy Minister of Transport and Deputy Minister of Water and Sanitation.

She was also elected to the National Assembly, where she chaired the Portfolio Committee on Transport.
