The body of 29-year-old Ntombovuyo Ntanga from Ndimakude was discovered in Hlwahlwazi, Flagstaff, on 13 November 2025. She had been reported missing after being last seen on 25 October and visiting a local tavern on 9 November. Her remains were found partially eaten by dogs, encouraging shock and grief in the community.

What Happened

Ntombovuyo was last seen on 25 October 2025, and friends last saw her at a tavern on 9 November. Witnesses identified her clothing as navy and white when she disappeared. On 13 November, her body was found in Hlwahlwazi, showing signs of having been eaten by dogs. Relatives confirmed the clothing and personal items matched what she wore before going missing.

Official Response

Police have been notified, and family members urge authorities to investigate individuals reportedly seen with her at the tavern. “We hope the culprits are brought to justice so her death does not go unpunished,” Khula community project spokeperson Petros Majola said. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are gathering witness statements to identify anyone involved.

Community Impact

Ntombovuyo’s aunt said she struggles to cope and relies solely on a R370 SRD grant, with no additional support. She called on the community for assistance to ensure a proper burial. “I have nothing else and need help to lay her to rest,” she said. Residents are expressing concern over safety in the area and the vulnerability of young women.
