Missy, born Vuyolwethu Tshawekazi Bangilizwe, is preparing for a landmark moment in her music career as she returns to the Eastern Cape for the official launch of her highly anticipated album, Lusikisiki. The event will take place on Saturday, 31 January 2026, at Gandundu Lodge, with festivities starting at 5pm till late.

The album launch is positioned as both a musical showcase and a cultural celebration, drawing inspiration from Missy’s personal journey and her experiences in Lusikisiki, which she now proudly represents as a growing creative hub.

From choir roots to national stages

Missy was born in Thembisa and raised in Phomolong before later moving to Birchleigh in Kempton Park. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Audiology from the University of Cape Town and has been professionally based in the Eastern Cape since 2020. Her music journey began in church choirs, where her passion and vocal foundation were shaped, eventually leading her into the Afro-pop genre where she is most at home.

She released her debut EP Kueen in 2019, followed by the single Broken in 2020. In 2023, she returned to the spotlight through a collaboration with DJ Shandu Skeem on the dance hit Kanye Nawe, a track that gained strong online traction and visibility .

The Lusikisiki album launch will feature a strong supporting line-up including Betusile, Ikhona, DJ Shandu Skeem, Zuko SA, DJ Nexus, SMVLLZ, and Ama WhyNot, with hosting duties handled by Mafa Bavuma and Vusi Oulik. Entrance to the event is R100.

Organisers have also extended an invitation to radio stations and media houses to come on board as official media partners. As part of the partnership, media outlets will receive brand exposure across marketing materials, acknowledgements on social media platforms, and the opportunity to host a pop-up or live broadcast at the venue.


Missy’s Lusikisiki album is described as a body of work rooted in lived experiences — capturing both challenges and triumphs — while carrying messages of love, gratitude, and pride in place.
